Highly recommended for a good stay in Paris.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for our honeymoon on Februrary 2006. The rooms, although very small, were impeccably clean and had en-suite bathroom facilities, which is certainly a plus in Europe. The room also had an LCD TV, which was a nice touch. Even though we’d already been to Paris before and didn’t need a lot of help with directions or recommendations, the hotel’s staff were corteous and helpful with taxi cabs and airport transportation. Breakfast, which at the time consisted of jam, pastries, and coffee was good enough for early risers like us who wanted to come out of the hotel ready to see the sights, although I must also mention that the surrounding streets are full of delis and coffee shops. The best thing about this hotel was its fantastic location. For starters, the hotel’s surroundings felt safe and easy to navigate. A metro station and the Musee Rodin are just around the corner and Les Invalides is a couple of blocks away. A hidden gem located within a couple blocks from the hotel is Basilique Ste-Clotilde, which is worth a visit at night. Both Champs Elysees and the Eiffel Tower are reachable on foot. We saw all of Paris’ central sites without ever taking a metro (we only used it to get to Versailles and Disneyland Paris), which speaks wonders about the hotel’s location. Considering the hotel’s cleanliness, safety, and location, the 100 EURO rate we paid in 2006 (breakfast included) was a real bargain. We’d certainly stay again at Hotel de Varenne and highly recommend it to budget-minded visitors who want to stay real close to the main attractions Paris has to offer, in a clean and stylish way to boot.
